We recently bought Leads from ASA Leads through Joe Claunts and he said he would call these leads personally and tell them that we were going to give them a call and personally meet them.
And he was going to be asking if they would want a home and life quote as well. He said he only wanted to work with 10 agents across the country and if there were any bad leads he would replace them for FREE.
He also promised that they would have a high credit ranking on our system. Again if they did not then he would replace them for Free. He also said that they would not have more than one accident or ticket and again he would replace them if they were.
Another promise was that he ran them on the national Do Not Call list and if they were on the list then he would replace them for Free.
So this sounded like the best offer we have ever heard, we get called daily from lead companies and never buy them because we are just sold a list and we can never get ahold of them. So this was like having our own in house telemarketer.. So ofcourse we were sold on the idea and bought 60 leads for $600 total.
The Results
On the first f 13 leads we receieved 9 were on the Do Not Call list.
So we called to have them replaced and he never would reply to our e-mails or phone calls.
We were supposed to receive 15 each week for four weeks. We did not get our second 15 for another 2 Weeks!
And of the Next 15, 12 were on the Do Not Call list.
First off, he said he was calling these people 2 or 3 days before we got the list of Leads. He told us that at the time they were called they were not on the Do Not Call list. Which is completely impossible because it can take up to 30 days to be added to the list.
One of my leads said she never talked to anyone and asked why I was calling her. When I was making sure what vehicle she drove she stopped me and was questioning how I got this info.
This was his response:
"No prob--It will be replaced. I thought I was talking to her when I called.
I have had leads that I know I talked to that particular individual and when I called a few days later they acted as though nothing was ever said before. Of course I never told them (liar I talked to you the other day) I just let them say what they say and called anothe #. I have had a few different circumstances come up when appt setting. Like the lead was set by the daughter and she pretended to be the Mrs. or Jr pretended to be dad. There are a whole bunch of circumstances that may arise. This is why I have the guarantee you will quote them or it is not a lead."
We replied.
Hey Joe,
We ran the DNS and 9 of the 13 leads came up as a Do Not Call. I feel like I have my hands tied on the leads that were submitted to me. The first 4 people I called had no clue about being interested in insurance ( and then 9 of the 13 came up Do Not Call). What am I supposed to do?
He replied and confirmed the fact about the delay of being put on the DNC list
"When you sign up on the dnc list then it takes 30 days for it to take effect. But I will chk with my marketing co. As to them not having a clue which ones were they?"
Thanks
His response to our send 15 leads, to which 12 were on the Do Not Call list was
"If the prospect is on the DNC list now then most agents send them something via mail. They were interested in getting a free quote otherwise I could not of gotten the info"
So now the leads we paid for that we can not call we are now supposed to send a quote through the mail. What I want to know is how he called and got their information without verifying they are on the Do Not Call list?
I'm sure he knows that there is a $25,000 FINE if you call someone on the Do Not Call list to solicit business.
So our response was:
"This contradicts what you had originally told me and that the list was scrubbed and we would be calling the clients using the script to set the appointment.
So your saying you called these people when they are listed on the DNC?"
He replied saying:
"I am saying that these folks were contacted when they were not on the DNC list and that they wanted a free no obligation quote for insurance. How you handle this is up to you."
But if you look at his statement earlier it takes 30 days to be on the Do Not Call list and if he is calling these people 2 to 3 days before we contact them then it is IMPOSSIBLE that when he contacted them that they were not on the Do Not Call list.
The Only way they were not on the Do Not Call list when they were call is because they were called 30 days or more ago! So he is selling old list and with a no money back!
We Stated:
"So you are saying by mailing these people out inaccurate quotes I will be making money.
By the way, who are your testimony agents? And how come you won't call me?
You were great a calling when you wanted my business, but when you could not follow through with what you promised you can't talk to me."
Here is his LAME response:
"If I was a customer of yours and was not happy for (whatever) reason right or wrong you would not give me a list of references so I could talk bad about you to your current clients, so your request is denied. Think about it. Also if you send them a prequote and get their interest it is just like saying "with the info I have this is what it would be" but make sure they understand that it is just a prequote. It is called marketing and has been used by agent for many years and will continue to do so.(BECAUSE IT MAKES MONEY)"
So to state the facts:
He made promises about the leads and NEVER came through and will not return any money or refund. And we have still not got the total number of leads we paid for.
ASA Leads are a waste of money because you will never get what you pay For!

ARE THERE ANY OTHER ASA LEADS, DBA.. All Star Agency VICTIMS OUT THERE? PLEASE POST.
I too was scammed recently just like you with the same sales pitch, except he stole an additional $600 out of my account just 9 days after he got paid which was also 1 day after I received my first set of 5 leads. I even had to ask where are my leads. He was just buying time so he can dip into my checking account a 2nd time. I got nothing of value. He just sent me names..he did not call them like he said he would...they were ALL on the "do not call" list... bad numbers and etc. His excuse for taking my money was oop's it's my mistake. "I'll take care of it". Today, I do not have no leads and I do not have my money back. I was ripped off big... $1200. Plus I did not have enough money in the checking account for the surprise attack. SO I have overdraft charges which he said he would take care of those too. Again I have not seen money from what he has stolen and damages. He is a big lier and scam artist. I've called all possible authorities and reported them. The BBB has 28 complaints in the last 3 years and there was 17 in the 12 months. Does this sound like an honest business? I don't think so... It sounds like a scam to me. Also please check the criminal courts in his county. He has a past and a public record. They will tell you over the phone he has 2 convictions of burglary and civil court complaints and a DWI and he dose not have a drivers license. You can call any local insurance agent in Keizer and they will tell you a story about them. Keizer is not a big city and everyone seems to kwow someone including his neighbor. Also, they are working under at least 5 DBA's for which the BBB can give you. Please notify the BBB, Oregon Insurance Department, Oregon Attorney General, IC3, FBI, and Federal Trade commission. Also, save all emails as evidence. Hopefully someone will read this post before they get ripped off and get a surpise attack of "oop's It's my mistake. I'll take care of it" money stolen from their checking account.
